ICRI Michigan meets in Kalamazoo On Thursday, June 17, 2010, the ICRI (International Concrete Repair Institute) Michigan Chapter assembled in Kalamazoo, Michigan for a dinner presentation put on by AZON USA, INC. The event kicked off with some happy hour drinks which provided a chance for the attendees to meet new faces and catch up with old friends. The socializing and good times continued as the group took to the tables for generous portions of Italian cuisine. Following dinner Mike Vennix (AZON USA, INC) gave a very informative presentation on the various properties of polyurethanes and their many uses in the restoration/ repair industry. The key factors in selecting hydrophobic vs. hydrophilic water stopping grouts were brought to the surface and explained in detail. Other products discussed included soil stabilization materials, polyurethanes as structural repair material and the use of two component polyurethanes for MDOT (Michigan Department of Transportation) approved slab leveling. Mr. Vennix brought along many different polyurethane samples and equipment components to provide visual representation of each item discussed and he did an excellent job educating the audience on the versatility of polyurethanes. Mr. Vennix, who is based in the Kalamazoo area, has been an ICRI board member for four years and has helped grow the chapter from it’s infancy in 2006. Azon provides a variety of hydrophobic and hydrophilic polyurethane commercial grout products. Azon has been a long time supporter of the ICRI and brings a diverse line of products to the repair and restoration industry.
